There is a scheduling conflict at my school... we're so broke that we can't afford to have enough teachers. Therefore classes are being cut and I'm very upset because they expect us to make a decision between classes that can push us academically and allow us to be the best that we can be. For example, i signed up for two AP classes and the rest honors, and without even telling me they put me in stained glass instead of honors band! I am very involved with music; i have been playing in both band and orchestra, the pit orchestra for the high school musical, and Western Districts band since I've been in middle school. Additionally, I won an award for music in school. Yet, I am being kicked out because they are understaffed...
I talked to Mr. Moors (my band teacher) and he talked to the administration. I may be able to still be in band, which would mean I could still do Western Districts), however, this would mean I would have to be in the middle school band first period. While this would not help me hone my skills, it might be a fun opportunity to work on my leadership skills, as this is one of the differences between regular and honors band.
